Roulette has been an ever-present part of casinos for a long time, but that doesn’t mean technology doesn’t evolve in the game with the times. A newer edition is the board that shows where the ball has landed over the last 10-20 spins.
With this new information, some players use what’s recently happened to make their bets using it as a way to predict what happens next. Can the board guide you to making better bets?

Just like slots data is not a predictor of what happens next, neither is the roulette history board a way to predict what happens next. The roulette ball and wheel don’t have a memory of previous spins so if it’s landed in red 8 times in a row, the chances of it landing in red a 9th time is exactly the same as it landing the 8th time.
More information doesn’t necessarily mean more helpful information, but casinos find showing this harmless information can drive more bets, both winning and losing, and with the house edge on a roulette bet among the higher ones in the casino, especially Double 0 and even Triple 0 Roulette, anything that drives more bets is a benefit.
The same goes with the Baccarat history board – some track patterns and try to bet around the patterns, but the best bet is to always bet on the banker, no matter the history, because of the long-term house edge on bets. That doesn’t stop players from betting on patterns and thinking the patterns will guide them.
Games don’t have recall or course correct based on history – so don’t get too caught up in the information being shown, as it won’t change the odds of winning or losing on any given bet.
Now, there’s a history in games like roulette that the physical imperfections of a game could lead to something called “wheel bias,” where certain spaces or sections could be favored for a physical reason, whether temporarily or for long periods of time. That’s different than what we’re talking about above, and that’s something that some Advantage Players have discovered and leveraged to their advantage. But that’s a topic for another day.
