My latest monthly collaboration with The Jackpot Gents is live, but first, a quick announcement about them:
They have launched a second channel on YouTube, under their original American Casino Guide Book brand, where they will be hosting their educational videos and conversations. In the future I anticipate both new and old conversations we have together will be able to be found there. Be sure to subscribe for some great educational casino content!
For now, though, we’re still on The Jackpot Gents, and this time out we talked about costly casino mistakes. This is based on an article I wrote for them for their website.
The topics we covered included:
- Not using a player’s card
- Not setting a budget
- Gambling with money outside your entertainment budget
- Not setting a time limit
- Playing games with a higher house advantage
- Gambling while overly tired
- Gambling while intoxicated
- Not checking the machine’s denomination (which can lead to mistakenly high bets)
- Not knowing how to play the game that you’re playing (for example, Blackjack or Video Poker, which have a strategy for optimal play)
A great thing about our collaborations is we all have some interesting casino observations and stories, and that yields some great topics of conversation jumping off of these ideas. Steve’s been in the industry a long time, and has seen and heard quite a bit over time, so he brings some great stories to the fold. Matt’s not been around as long, of course, but he’s got some doozies of stories too.
Even correcting some of the mistakes listed here can help you spend less money or make your money last longer, yielding a better chance you go home with at least some cash. All of the suggestions here are based on various conversations with other players, my own experiences, and in general are designed to minimize spending by reducing mistakes and setting limits that can be adhered.
One of the joys of 2022 was getting to regularly collaborate with The Jackpot Gents, ad I look forward to continuing that as we enter 2023.
